Spruce Up Your Space With These Home Design Trends
With each new year comes a wave of new trends…especially in the world of home design. Three top ‘home decor’ publications (Houzz, Elle Decor and House Beautiful) weighed in on upcoming trends, leaving decorating gurus with tons of inspiration for sprucing up their living space. Here are a few modern decorating trends you might want to keep in mind…
Home Design Trends:
1. Statement mirrors will make a comeback
Bathrooms are getting a facelift! With regular rectangle mirrors out of the picture for many homes, vanities are being topped with unique, decorative statement mirrors. The same can be said for those hanging over a desk or dresser.
2. Living room technology will be invisible
Gone are the pile of cords that weave around gaming systems, sound systems and TV’s. These source predict that homeowners will begin to keep their prized electronics tucked away–rather than show them off–in an effort to create a more decorative atmosphere.
3. Kitchen cabinets and counters will be two different materials
Both Elle Decor and Houzz noted that one of the biggest up-and-coming trends is mixed materials used in kitchens. Homeowners are now blending stainless steel, brick, granite, wood and other materials in a modern two-toned style. In fact, one of the biggest home design trends is more decorative kitchens in general. Time to get cooking on that dream kitchen!
4. Attention-grabbing patterns seen throughout the house
While we’ve seen lots of this already in the past year, patterned furniture, bedspreads and rugs aren’t going anywhere. Though many current home design trends encompass a minimalist style, these splashes of pattern (on a pillowcase for example) are still all the rage.
5. More artsy chandeliers and crafty bedside tables
Homes across the nation are getting a reboot with artsy home appliances. House Beautiful says that two of the most common trends are unique chandeliers for above your dining room and crafty coffee and bedside tables. Either of these simple additions can transform the look of your room to rustic, chic or elegant!
